Resizing your images to be "Web Friendly"

Image resizing can be a pain, but it can be made much easier using a handful of free programs and techniques. First, identify your particular operating system below, then follow the step-by-step instructions to resize your images.

Windows XP

Windows XP includes no simple native way to resize images. However, Microsoft has tried to remedy this by offering a free download to make image resizing very simple.

1. Download the image resizer here.

2. Install the software

3. Right-click on any image you would like to resize and select "Resize Image." Choose Medium and press "Okay." Your file will be saved in the same folder as the original, and you can upload that new file.
Tip: Not sure which one is new? Look for the word "Medium" at the end of the image name. That's your new image.

4. If resizing multiple images, select the ones to be resized by holding down the "Control" key and clicking on each image. Once you have all the images selected, right-click and proceed as shown in Step 3.
